Tower Crane

I was on a construction site in Arlington last week to photograph the Associated Builders and Contractors Craft Professional of the Year. This years winner is a tower crane operator. They're June issue of the ABC magazine will feature a cover shot and an inside article about him. I'm not going to put up his photo here because I don't want to spoil the surprise. But I did get a nice shot of the crane I'm very happy with but I really like it after conversion to B&W.

New IR photos

I spent a couple of hours out today in what would have been a bog had it rained in the past few days; but today it was pretty solid and easy to navigate through. There were some quick- sand like spots but the legs of my tripod make a good " poke it before you step there" device.
This is one of a few I shots I did today that may wind up in my series of Infrared photos; more of which can be seen on my website at http://www.danpoyourow.com
Usually there are leaves on the trees which makes for a different look. But I also like the look of the bare trees in IR.

This is my first post so I thought I'd tell you a little bit about the photo in the header. Later there will be all kinds of great stuff for you to see and read.
The photograph was taken in Herndon, Virginia. I was shooting a job across the street from this building. I didn't even see it at first. I was waiting til sunset for my scheduled shot and was walking around killing time. I walked up the street a bit and up a slight hill; and there in front of me was this building in the middle of a big field. I love subjects situated this way. There were no clouds in the sky at all. Not a one. The sun was starting to set over my left shoulder and hitting the building perfectly. I decided to shoot this as soon as I was done with my other shot.
I finished the shot that was set up and move to the other location. As I was setting up a few clouds started to appear. Then more and more. I could not believe my luck. Half an hour later they were everywhere! The formation you see had formed to the left of the building and all I had to do was wait til it moved behind the building and hit the shutter. While I'm very happy with how it turned out, having shot it on my Canon, I can't help but wish I had shot it with my 8x10 view.
